the Return of Arco Iris

Times are changing and with the closing of one Grand Rapids legendary venue, skelletones,we feel the time is right to resurrect the infamous Arco Iris. If you missed out on the Arco era in Grand Rapids it was a coffee shop and venue. A place and a community of people that fostered musical and artistic expression, creativity, respect, mutual aide, and many other shananagains . Arco Iris brought together people of all generations and backgrounds… hippies, punks, everyone. Many great and not so great musicians passed through the doors of Arco Iris. As long as the artists played with a passion, they could always find encouragement and respect at Arco Iris. By re-launching Arco Iris we are striving to create a space where creativity and new ideas will be respected and encouraged. A variety of activities will unfold on February 7th, including a Really Really Free Market, Potluck, acoustic jam/drum circle (bring your instruments), local vendors will be selling things, there will be a trading post for people to trade more valuable items, food and refreshments, Mix Tape trade (make a mix cd or mix tape), Book exchange, Art stations (brings supplies if you have them), a discussion facilitated by the bloom collective, and music in the evening from an eclectic collection of some rad local bands such as Mystic Dub, The Mighty Narwhale, Cocksnot, and Poor Sports.
So come down to the latvian hall (504 Grand Ave NE) February 7 1pm-??? ($5 after 7 to see bands) and be a part of the cultural experiment.
